About The Friends of Markenfield
Parish, Park & Hall Ltd
The Friends of Markenfield was set up in 2007 to bring together the diverse group of people who have a shared love of the Hall – from our Volunteer Stewards to people who have visited once and then found themselves returning year after year.
Although initially intended to be set up as a charity, issues with the Charities Commission forced consideration of alternative structures and The Friends of Markenfield (PP&H) Ltd was formally incorporated as a Company limited by Guarantee in June 2011.
The Friends aims are:
To advance the education of the public about the parish, park and built heritage of Markenfield Hall.
To promote study and research into the natural and built heritage of the Parish, Park and Hall; provided that the useful results of such study are disseminated to the public at large.
To promote for the benefit of the public the conservation, protection and enhancement of the natural and built heritage of Markenfield Parish, Park and Hall.
To advance the Christian religion in the Parish and the surrounding area for the benefit of the public, through the holding of services in the Chapel of Markenfield Hall and the public celebration of religious festivals, and to promote interdenominational harmony for the benefit of the public.
To further such other charitable and educational purposes relating to the Parish of Markenfield Hall as may from time to time be determined by the Trustees.
There are opportunities for Friends to volunteer to help with various projects.
Events are arranged at the Hall, for which Friends have the advantage of priority booking and discounted tickets. Lectures and musical events are usually held in the beautiful setting of the Great Hall, enabling the audience to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere as well as the entertainment.
