Tiny Tours

Tiny Tours have now finished for 2022.

If you are visiting the area at a specific time next year, do let us know what your dates are and we will try to run a Tiny Tour around your stay.

Tiny Tours are now the way to visit Markenfield Hall.

Gone are the May and June open days, the parking in the paddock, the milling around with a hundered other people and reading your own room sheets….

Tiny by name. Tiny by number. But definitely big in content. In 2020 we introduced a series of Tiny Tours that would allow small numbers of visitors to return to the Hall – they turned out to be infinitely better that what we had done before. Our visitors enjoyed them more and relaxed more in the time they got to spend within these historic walls (and with the cake afterwards) and our Guides appreciated the captive audiences.

Tickets are £25 per person, including tea and cake. Please read on for further details, including how to book.

When are Tiny Tours?

Rather than craming our open days in to two fortnights, Tiny Tours will allow visitors to enjoy Markenfield on selected days between April and November.

If you are visiting the area om holiday and would like to visit, let us know your dates and we will see what we can put on for you.

Do I need a ticket?

Yes you do – all visits to Markenfield Hall are ‘by appointment’. Tickets for Tiny Tours will appear on our Tickets page shortly.

The Hon. Kay Norton - following precautions

Will you ask me to wear a face mask and use hand sanitiser?

Hmmm… there are no longer any laws when it comes to the Coronavirus – it is now a matter of Personal Responsibility. Certain staff members will still be wearing their masks, and we will supply masks free of charge to those who wish to use them. We will also continue to provide hand sanitiser throughout the house. But please do think twice about visiting if you have any symptoms of the virus, or have been in contact with anyone who has.

Do you have a loo?

Most certainly. This year we will be opening both the toilet in the Gatehouse and the loo in the Lockup.

I have family staying. Can I book a private tour?

If you’d like to bring your friends and family on a private tour, please do give us a call to see if we have any dates available. We can seat up to 18 people un-distanced, or up to 10 distanced. Tours are not strictly child friendly, as they are historical in nature, but do let us know if you would like to bring a younger group and we will see what we can do. Please telephone or email to discuss dates and options. £18 per person (minimum charge £60).

I hear you're serving cake again this year...

Hooray – the return of cake!

We are delighted to be serving tea and cake once more – life is rather sad without it (although we’re all just that little bit thinner!).

We will be serving tea and cake in the Great Hall before morning tours, and after afternoon tours.

We regret that our Cake Lady’s Public Liability Insurance does not allow her to cater for food allergies, but she can cater for gluten intolerance if you let us know in advance.
